About the text messages

ChangeNod sends text messages on behalf of construction contractors to the clients they work for, about one thing: extra work on the client's own project. This page says exactly what that means. The full terms are in theSMS terms, and how personal information is handled is in theprivacy policy.

Who is texting

Texts come from a ChangeNod number and name the contractor's business, in the form "Johnson Construction LLC via ChangeNod". ChangeNod is the software; the contractor is the business the client hired. ChangeNod is a product of Vexa Automations LLC, Meridian, Oklahoma.

How clients are enrolled

Clients do not sign up with ChangeNod and never give us their number themselves. The contractor enters a client's name and mobile number when setting up the project, and is responsible for having the client's permission to text them about it. The very first text the client receives is a program disclosure, before any approval link or invoice. It names the contractor and ChangeNod, says what the texts will be about, that frequency varies, that message and data rates may apply, and how to opt out and get help. ChangeNod keeps a record of that disclosure, the number it went to and when it was sent.

Contractors enroll when they sign up for ChangeNod and provide the mobile number they will text change orders from. The first text to that number is a welcome with the same disclosure.

The sign-up form on this website asks for a name, a business, a trade and an email address. It does not ask for a phone number, and nothing on this website enrolls anyone in text messages.

What clients receive

• the one-time program disclosure;
• a link to review and approve each change order, and a reminder while an approval is still waiting (by default on the third and seventh day);
• a link to pay each invoice for approved work, and reminders while an invoice is still open (by default on the third, seventh, fourteenth and twenty-first day).

Texts to clients go out between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. in the contractor's time zone. A client's reply is passed to the contractor; ChangeNod does not carry a conversation back. There is never advertising or promotional content, and a client's number is never used for any other program, shared, sold or rented.

What contractors receive

A confirmation of each change order they text, a question when something is unclear, a notice when a client approves, declines or pays, notices about invoices and reminders, and a weekly summary of money outstanding.

Frequency and cost

Message frequency varies with the activity on the project. A typical change order produces one approval text and, if needed, a reminder or two, then one invoice text with reminders until it is paid. Message and data rates may apply.

Opting out and getting help

Reply STOP to any text to opt out. STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END and QUIT work too. One final message confirms the opt-out and nothing further is sent from that contractor's program. Opting out does not end the agreement with the contractor, who is told to reach the client another way. Reply START to receive texts again.
